The first Academic Review Days of the year for Years 7 to 13 have been scheduled for Thursday 7th and Friday 8th December 2017.
On these days tutors will be meeting with their students to discuss their progress grades and teachers’ comments in order to set personal targets for the forthcoming months. Students will be receiving their progress grade reports shortly.
Parents are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend these interviews in order to engage in the dialogue and target setting process. All parents will be able to examine their son or daughter’s targets as they will be recorded in their homework diary.
The school timetable will be suspended on these two days to enable form tutors to meet with students individually to assess progress and set realistic targets with them. During the ARD period all students must complete an online survey. Details of the survey will be sent to the student's Burnham Grammar email address, this means that they may choose to either complete the survey at home or in school. Any student who wishes to complete the survey in school should go to a computer room either before or after their ARD appointment. Surveys must be completed by the end of Friday 8th December.
A number of students will also be asked to meet with a teacher for no more than 15 minutes to carry out a work scrutiny of their exercise books and/or files. These students will be advised separately and will need to bring all exercise books and/or files to this session.
Students are only required to attend school on the above day and should not be here otherwise. In exceptional circumstances, where students are unable to be supervised at home, the school will be providing work areas where students can complete their independent study or complete ‘catch up’ tasks for subjects with which they are having difficulty.
If they are not able to make their appointment or a session they should be in school for, please contact our reception to let them know. All students in Years 7-11 are to attend their interviews in full school uniform. Sixth formers must attend dressed as for a normal school day.
Each student must come to their appointment with their Academic Review Day booklets completed, the booklets can be downloaded below.
