Alice in Wonderland tickets are now on sale

BGS proudly presents this year’s drama production, ‘Alice in Wonderland’, based on the novel by Lewis Carroll, and adapted for the stage largely by BGS students.

Alice’s adventures begin when she sees a white rabbit, with a pocket-watch, wearing a waistcoat, and decides to follow him. As she tumbles down the rabbit-hole she enters Wonderland, a frustrating and topsy-turvy place where nothing is quite as it seems. Along the way she meets a cast of colourful, whimsical creatures and eventually learns to stand up for herself, even when the Queen of Hearts threatens to cut off her head.

The show will feature musical performances in a wide range of styles, showcasing some of the work of the music department this year.

The production will also be an immersive promenade experience. The audience will be divided into groups, which then make their way around scenes from Wonderland, staged in different areas of the school building. Comfortable footwear is recommended, since you will be moving around and taking part actively in some scenes.

The show will take place, starting in the school hall, at 7.30pm on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th November 2018, with a potential extra performance on Thursday 22nd November if demand is high. Tickets cost £7, and are available via Parentpay. Tickets must be purchased in advance for this event for licensing reasons; no tickets will be available on the door.

The audience will be divided into two halves for the interval, which will involve 15 minutes of free time – but for the other 15, your presence is politely requested at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

You are advised that strobe lighting and smoke effects will be used. Please contact Miss Youens ryouens@burnhamgrammar.org.uk for further details.
