Fantastic Exam Results at Burnham Grammar School in 2019
Congratulations to all of the students on their fantastic GCSE & A level results and a huge thankyou to our staff for their exceptional levels of dedication and support every day.
In 2018 BGS was one of only two Grammar schools in Bucks and Slough to have very positive progress measures at both GCSE and A level.
At A level the school had the joint highest progress measure of the Bucks and Slough grammar schools. This ranked us in the top 17% of schools nationally for progress.
In 2019 it looks as though BGS has done it again with likely positive progress measures at A level and record breaking results at GCSE.
In 2019 BGS saw a 55% increase in grade 9 GCSEs compared to 2018, with over 60% of all GCSEs taken resulted in a grade 7, 8 or 9, equivalent to A*/A grades in the old GCSEs.
For individual students more than 68% of 165 students achieved 5 or more grades at 7 or above (A*/A).
The average grade for the 1638 entries at BGS this year was a grade 7.
Independent estimates of student progress put the school in the top 14% of schools in the country
Exceptional results were seen in further maths, history, business, science, music and sociology where 3 out of 4 students achieved a grade 7-9.
2 out of 3 A levels taken resulted in an A*, A or B grade with the average student achieving an ABB.
Exceptional results were seen in maths, history, business, French, PE, design technology and sociology where 4 out of 5 students achieved an A*, A or B and in some departments 2 out of 3 students achieved an A* or A grade.
