Packed schedule for Post 18 Conference to get started on planning career paths

The year 12 cohort have had two days of talks and guidance about what options are open to them once they leave the classrooms here at Burnham Grammar School.

The Post 18 Conference heard talks from the likes of Professor Dame Carol Black from Cambridge University speaking on university life and what university can offer students, as well as from staff from University of South Wales giving help with writing UCAS personal statements.

A number of external visitors from a range of professional backgrounds also joined us for "speed dating" sessions which saw groups of students move between tables with five minutes to quiz the visitors on how they got into their jobs and what advice they would give to the students.

The Careers Fair was a popular event with a number of different stalls from universities, the Army, RAF, apprenticeship schemes, gap year opportunity companies and musical institutes all taking questions on what they are offering for our students once they leave school.

The two days are an important time for the year 12 cohort as they start their UCAS application process and begin to look at what they would like to pursue once they have left school.

Thank you to all those who came in to speak and help our students.
