Wonderful evening at Bisham Abbey NSC for the debut Sports Awards Evening

Yesterday evening nearly 200 students and parents came together to celebrate the sporting achievements of our cohort.

Numerous awards were handed out across a variety of sports within school, from rounders to netball to dance to rugby.

It was also a chance to give thanks to the PE department, from which the staff work hard throughout the year to coach students from all year groups and ensure they are challenged with various fixtures and tournaments.

After an introduction from Mr Durose, head of PE, Paralympian Ian Rose gave a speech about his career in professional judo, starting with it just as a hobby but then seeing it grow into a real passion for which he needed high levels of physical and mental strength as well as seeking inspiration from a number of places. His words have hopefully inspired our young sports men and women to achieve even more in the new school year.

The Year 9 A Team were awarded the prestigious title of Team of the Year, along with the male and female sports personalities of the year being announced as Rhys Harper and Emilie Secker.

The full listing of winners will be posted shortly.

Mrs Ive, assistant head of PE, said: "Our first sports awards evening held at Bisham Abbey was a huge success, we could not have wished for a more perfect evening, fabulous venue, beautiful weather, a wonderful mixture of parents, staff and talented young sportsmen and women celebrating their love of sport.

"Thank you to everyone who came and supported our first event and a special thank you to Paralympic Ian Rose for such an inspirational speech and presenting our awards."
