Experience on the world stage as year 13 rower takes part in Head of Charles Regatta in Boston

Alongside his A Level studies, year 13 student Daniel has been training hard as a member of the Maidenhead Rowing Club. Over the half term break he headed state side to compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.

Along with three other boys from Maidenhead Rowing Club, Daniel in year 13 took part in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.

This is the world's largest rowing event by number of entries and many world champions and Olympic medallists participated.

The boys trained daily from Harvard University's historic boathouse in advance of the race.  The race itself, the Youth Quads, was on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd October, with 32 crews competing. Daniel's crew won silver medals - being beaten to first place by a very strong crew from Connecticut.

Afterwards they had the opportunity to spend a couple of days visiting two other Ivy League Universities, Yale and Princeton, to discuss the sporting and studying possibilities at those institutions.

This is a great start to the 2017 / 2018 rowing season. Hopefully the boys will build on this success, starting with Fours Head this coming weekend (over the Boat Race course in London), followed by the GB Junior Trials which start on 18th November.
