Students face the o2 Dragons' Den with new app ideas

Year 10 Business students took on the challenge of entering the Dragons' Den with an innovative and exciting app idea.

The cohort spent the day at the o2 offices on Wednesday November 15 working with staff there to come up with a new app which addresses a social issue, to pitch to the o2 Dragons, to gain a (hypothetical) investment of £250,000.

The groups came up with a variety of proposals, ranging from an app to help people recycle and reduce their carbon footprint; a way to promote a healthy lifestyle; a forum to help those who have suffered discrimination; and an app which is aimed at supporting young people who have a mental health problem.

After a morning of planning, creating and practising their pitches, each team presented to the four Dragons as well as answering questions about how their product would work and create a return on investment.

The students used the skills they had covered so far in GCSE Business to put together a business plan.

The winning team from the day, pictured above, came up with the idea of the app Our Haven which would provide a safe space for young people who had been subject to discrimination to talk to others as well as get professional support.

Well done to the winning team, and the runners up. A big thank you to o2 for organising the day and hosting us. It was very much enjoyed by all.
