Year 10 Work Experience Week - 8 & 9th July
Our Year 10 students had a highly engaging and insightful Work Experience Week, designed to prepare them for the world of work.
On Wednesday 8th July, students took part in a series of informative talks, including sessions on budgeting and interview skills from WiseUp Finance Education. We were also delighted to welcome speakers from Royal Holloway University, who shared valuable insights on the benefits of higher education.
In addition, students attended carousel talks delivered by our alumni from a range of sectors, including Natasha Carter & Karim Jebnouni, the Engineering Apprentices from TfL; Aimee Tomlin, Catastrophe Analyst from WTW; David Page & Emily Wheeler, Biomedical Scientists from Lonza; and Adrian Borsuk, Audit Associate from S&W.
On Thursday 9th July, all students attended their work experience placements. We would like to thank all parents for supporting and arranging placements for their children. For those unable to secure a placement, we organised a visit to Henkel’s headquarters in Hemel Hempstead. Students had a valuable experience learning how a multinational company operates and took part in activities focused on digital marketing.
Overall, the week provided students with meaningful experiences and a deeper understanding of future career pathways.
Year 9 World of Work Day - Monday 13th July
Our Year 9 students recently took part in an inspiring World of Work Day, designed to broaden their understanding of future careers and develop key employability skills.
The day featured a series of engaging carousel talks delivered by guest speakers, many of whom are our alumni and parents. Students had the opportunity to hear from professionals across a wide range of sectors, including Jasvir Hunjan (Biomedical Engineering student at Imperial College) and Gurunek Dosanjh (Medicine student at the University of St Andrews); Natasha Carter and Karim Jebnouni from TfL Engineering; Zonia Palacios, Principal Analyst in the oil industry; Khadija Bi, studying Finance and Accounting at Brunel University London while completing a Level 3 Teaching Apprenticeship; Iqra Vakass, Accounts Assistant at Apple TV; and Harriet White, in her final year of Music and Sound Production at the University for the Creative Arts.
Students also took part in interactive activities led by Lindsay Wright, one of our parents, alongside a facilitator from Link Engagement. These sessions focused on developing self-awareness, communication, and teamwork skills, and helped students understand how these essential skills link to future careers and employability.
It was a highly successful and rewarding day, with students gaining valuable insights from a diverse range of career pathways.
