Year 11 Stratford London Trip - October 2026

7 Oct 2026

On a bright, early-October morning, the Geography department took Year 11 Geography students to undertake their Urban fieldwork in Maryland and the East Village in Stratford, East London, seeking to understand whether or not urban regeneration in the East Village (associated with the 2012 Olympic Games in London) had led to a higher quality of life for residents.

In groups of 8, students carried out vehicle surveys, environmental quality assessments and sustainability surveys at a number of sites in the area that would allow them to evaluate the impact of urban regeneration.

They also took photographs that they could then annotate as part of their write ups to support their conclusions.

Whilst getting to know a previously unknown location, students also enjoyed sampling a variety of foods in the Westfield food court over lunch – a highlight of the trip for many students!

A wonderful trip for our Year 11 cohort.
