On Tuesday 16th December, our Year 8 students took part in a Work Experience Visit to Burnham Park Hall. This visit was an opportunity for our students to learn of careers within our local community and meet with employers and organisations to learn of their connections to the school.
The students had talks from the team at Burnham Parish Council, who talked through their job roles and day to day working lives. Students also learned about the functions of the village hall, which hosts council meetings and can be hired by members of the public for a wide range of events and functions.
They also had fantastic talks from two external speakers :
Students also participated in a group budgeting task called 'You be the Council', whereby our students had to assign a budget to areas of the community for the council to focus on.
It was a fantastic day for our cohort to learn about the world of work. Thankyou to Burnham Park Hall for allowing us to host this event at your venue, to the team at Burnham Parish Council and also to our external business speakers for your time and support for our Careers & Aspirations Programme for our Year 8 Cohort this academic year.
Thankyou to the team also at Burnham Park Hall for letting us hire the hall for our Work Experience Visit. More information about their hall hire can also be found on their website.
