Year 9 Woodrow House Trip

Year 9 students last week went to Woodrow House in Amersham for an Activity Day. Students were buzzing with excitement to share the enriching experiences our students had!

The aim of this trip was to kickstart the development of Responsible Learners, complementing classroom efforts in responsible learning. Our students faced new challenges aligning with their GCSE journey, fostering new growth mindset and building resilience.

But the journey doesn't end here! This trip is just the beginning of a comprehensive program continuing throughout the year. Our focus includes developing study skills, critical thinking and stress reduction strategies to empower our students for success.

Year 9 Activities

  • Social and Teamwork Skills: Navigating group dynamics and fostering collaboration.
  • Challenge and Resilience: Confronting challenges head-on to cultivate resilience.
  • Competition: Encouraging healthy competition for personal and collective growth.

On-site Staff Sessions

  • Reflection on Responsible Learning: Defining what it means to be a responsible learner.
  • Effective Study Strategies: Exploring practice strategies, revision techniques, and organisational skills.
  • Feedback: Encouraging a culture of providing and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Grit or Growth Mindset Sessions: Navigating setbacks with resilience and a growth mindset.
  • Study Skills: Dive into memory techniques and effective note-taking strategies.

Students had a great time on their trip and thank you to all for your enthusiasm throughout the day!
