BGS Post 18 Careers Fair 2022

On Thursday 30 June and Friday 1 July students in Year 12 attended a two-day Post-18 Conference at BGS. This enabled students to consider their education and employment options for life after Sixth Form. Activities during the two days involved talks from Newcastle University to think about UCAS personal statements, Dr Sos Eltis from Brasenose College Oxford about the absolute love of learning and academia.

Within the Careers Fair was a number of universities, apprenticeship providers, employers and the Careers Service (Adviza) for students to view.

A carousel of activities then tested students' interview skills as they were grilled by our Governing Body and Trustees.  Friday continued the theme with a series of mini lectures and workshops covering thoughts on accommodation at university, budgeting during life away from home, apprenticeships and the Student Finance Company (England).  There was a fantastic buzz in the air and lots of chatter amongst our Sixth Form students as they start to think about life beyond Burnham Grammar School.

The Careers Fair also welcomed students in each of years 8, 9 and 10 who were able to test the water for the future!

We are most grateful to each of the organisations who gave up their time on the day and the teams of interviewers and presenters who shared their knowledge with our students.
