Year 11 students visit Brasenose College and The University of Oxford!

On Monday 9th October, twenty four Year 11 students went for a day trip to Brasenose College at the University of Oxford.

The students travelled up by train and were greeted at the door by Dr. Joe Organ.

The day was organised through by Dr.Organ, who set out a timetable for our students, Students learnt about what life is like at university and were given advice about the application process to the University of Oxford.

The students were given an initial presentation in the college, from where they were collected and given a tour by current students.  They were shown the chapel, library, JCR, student rooms and the dining hall.

After this they were given a quick tour of the surrounding area, including the Covered Market, Sheldonian Theatre and Bodleian Library.

Students were then met with Sophie, who was Head Student at BGS two years ago. She kindly gave the students a tour of another college, from where they were then taken to Blackwells Book Shop.

The students spent time in the Norrington Room, which is one of the largest book rooms in the world!!

A final stop at a gift shop was made before walking back to the train station and departing for Burnham.  It was a very successful trip and the students really enjoyed the day.

Thankyou to Brasenose College & The University of Oxford for this opportunity for our students.
