Finalists announced for first Adobe Computer Scientist of the Year competition

The finalists have been announced for the first Adobe Computer Scientist of the Year competition.

We have been very lucky to have partnered up with the computer software company Adobe, to offer an opportunity to our year nine and Sixth Form students for them to show off their coding and program creating skills.

In November, the students were set the challenge to create a program from scratch, with year nine students having to work to meet the brief of “Making your life better”, and the year 12 and 13 given the freedom to choose their focus.

The finalists, which have been chosen after a rigorous internal judging process, will be able to present their programs to Adobe staff at their offices in Maidenhead.

There have been fantastic entries, ranging from an app that reminds you to do all of your tasks for that day, to a transport delay alert system, to a system which can help stage crews or lighting technicians to work out the right number of filters needed for shows, to a password hashing program.

The day of the finals is Friday. The students have been working hard on their presentations and to make final touches to their programs, ensuring they are as fully functional and professional as possible.

As well as gaining feedback on their work from staff at Adobe, the students will hear from a Senior Leader at the company about career routes into the industry, and the work of Adobe.

There are five sixth form finalists, and nine year nine finalists—narrowed down from all Computer Science students in those year groups.

Year nine:

Geetika L, Rikoh L, Lucas P, Harleen D, Harjot R, Mathias J, Saathvick G, Ethan S, George F.

Year 12:

Bilal A, Dylan C, Harrison F.

Year 13:

Rohan B and Manu R.
